“Umang App” Services such as EPF, PAN, Aadhaar, mobile bill payment, gas booking, electricity bill payment can be managed through Umang App. This is a free mobile app.
Umang App was released by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the National Division of e-Governance (NeGD).
An Individual can find the details of many schemes of Central and State Governments through this App. ‘Unified Mobile App for New Age Governance-Umang’ can be downloaded from a mobile app through a mobile phone with predictive (PF) details.
The biggest advantage of the app is being able to use it for services related to EPF from the comfort of your home during the current COVID-19 pandemic. By using this app you can get all details related to your EPF account during your employment with different employers. But in order to use this facility, you must have an active UAN (Universal Account Number) and a mobile number registered with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).
How to know your UAN
In case you don’t have an active UAN, you need to visit EPFO portal and click on the ‘Activate UAN’ option, and then you have to fill all the required details such as Name, DOB, Mobile number etc.
Once you enter all details, enter the captcha code on the required field and click on ‘Get Authentication PIN’. Now enter the PIN generated on your mobile number on the required field and click on ‘Validate OTP’ to activate your UAN.
Umang App is jointly developed by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology and the National e-Governance Department. There are many facilities available through Umang App alone.

But you need to get an active UNAN (Universal Account Number). It must have a registered mobile number with the EPFO. You can see the EPF balance in Umang App through the following methods.
Step 1: Download Umang App on your smartphone. Customers can download it through the Google Play Store.
Step 2: Click on the EPFO option after opening Umang App.
Step 3: You will find the EPFO Page. There are options for Employee and Employer Centric Service, General Service and Pensioner Service. You need to click on ‘Employee Centric Service’.
Step 4: Click on ‘View Passbook’ option under Employee Centric Service in order to check your EPF balance.
Step 5: Now a login section will appear where you need to enter your UAN number and tap on the ‘Get OTP’ option to receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Be sure that your registered mobile number is working at that specific period and that it has to be with you as you’ll only get two minutes to authenticate the OTP.
Step 6: Get details of EPF accounts after entering OTP. You may have worked at a number of companies. Details of all EPF Accounts available at the time. You also download your EPF Passbook directly to your device.
